The Awareness Center, with student services, directs its effort towards
promoting healthier lifestyles and providing total campus support in education,
awareness and referral services.
The Center provides assistance to students, faculty and staff who are
concerned about their drinking or use of drugs, about a friend's use/abuse,
or about drug or alcohol misuse in their family. The Center is committed
to reduce the frequency and prevalence of alcohol and other drug-related
incidents that adversely affect the quality of a student's experience
at CEU-San Juan Campus.
Skill development, appropriate information, self-awareness, and opportunities
for excitement and socializing are some of the key elements to prevent
alcohol and drug use/abuse. Additionally, the Center seeks to encourage
and assist in all aspects of wellness on this campus.
This includes:
- Providing an opportunity for students to discuss their situation with
a counselor or professional.
- Offering information about campus resources and other agency resources
as needed.
- Suggesting a local or campus support group that may share the students'
concerns.
- Suggesting positive, healthy, low-risk choices to deal with life stresses
and future decisions.
