BCCM Course Descriptions

BCCM 1010 Building Construction Safety (1)
This class is a study of OSHA and common safety rules for use of hand tools, power tools, ladders, scaffolds, etc. The course also covers concepts of waste disposal and maintaining a clean working environment.

BCCM 1010 Building Construction Safety (2)
This class is for anyone who needs to learn how to interpret and understand the drawings used in the construction industry. Prints provide a common set of information for all parties involved in the design and construction of a building. Theory of projection architectural symbols, materials, and construction methods are covered. Information taken from plot plans, foundation plans, floor plans, elevation drawings, details, and specifications will be stressed.

BCCM 2010 Framing and Concrete Theory (3)
Students learn the theory of framing layout techniques including floors, stairways and roofs in typical residential construction. Principles and methods of concrete construction including forming, placement, finishing, and testing of concrete footing walls and slabs.

BCCM 2030 Framing Lab (3)
This course teaches the techniques in floor, wall, roof, framing and stair-layout construction. These techniques are taught at on-site construction projects on a full-size home going from foundation to roof.

BCCM 2080 Concrete Construction Lab (3)
Students gain experience in forming, finishing, and placing concrete in actual construction settings including footings, walls, and slabs.

BCCM 2100 Finish Interior and Exterior Theory (3)
This course covers the study of materials, energy and heat loss, and methods used in interior construction. The course includes instruction on insulation, drywall, interior finish, handrail, molding, and cabinets.

BCCM 2130 Finish Lab (3)
Students learn techniques in insulation, wallboard, interior finishing, handrail, molding, and cabinet installation by on-site construction.

BCCM 2170 Exterior Construction Lab (3)
This lab provides practice and application of methods and materials of exterior construction.

BCCM 2988 Special Problems (1-3)
Students are given individual work approved by the instructor. Time and credit are to be arranged.
